Today, in Verónica Gutgar’s studio in Alicante, there is more noise than usual: in addition to the music, two women are taking measurements and working on handmade pieces. The Gutgar Experience Fashion School, founded by designer Verónica Gutgar, offers students comprehensive training, from pattern-making techniques to the creation of their own pieces.
On this particular day, they are learning about pattern-making technique. This requires an excellent understanding of symmetry and body anatomy.
Her experience of over 10 years in Haute Couture designing, combined with her background as a gymnast, allows her to understand how a body moves, and how students think.
Thus, Verónica has a single purpose: to impart all the knowledge she has gathered over time to her students, sharing her passion for the art of the profession and its fundamental reasoning.
Verónica provides the space and time necessary for students to try, explore, and reach their own conclusions. At every step, students learn at their own pace.
Around the black iron table, each one begins to sew for their own project.
Those classes not only put focus on technical skills, but also work to develop each student’s creative voice. The personalised guidance allows her two students of the day to be confident in their projects.
One of the students is working on a garment for her son’s wedding. Verónica teaches her techniques to represent a mother’s love through chosen fabrics that will flow over her body on this very special day.
The other student is designing children’s clothing for her store. Verónica assists her in mastering pattern-making details and traditional finishes.
Each profile finds its place in the school.
At Gutgar Experience, students not only learn how to assemble a garment, but also how to convey what they feel and desire most deeply, through their choices of fabric and techniques.
Moreover, Verónica Gutgar nourishes their love for high quality pieces. To learn better, students have the opportunity to work with sewing machines, experiment with different tools, and create their pieces using high-quality natural fabrics.
Students are given the time and tools necessary to make the most of their skills, and try out during each time of the construction of their pieces.
On top of the artistic creation, Verónica values the psychological part of the art. She believes that a good emotional management is key to a healthy creative process.
Students benefit from her practical advice, that she has been collecting for a long time in this profession.
Verónica guides them during the construction of their business project if they want to. She organizes meetings with Fashion professionals during workshops, such as Shingo Sato, Javier Martín Galán or Marcelo Calabrese. She also invites experts like Carmen de Cachavera for those who are interested in working in the industry, and who will also guide them along this journey.
